ANNA LO WESTLIN


Anna Lo Westlin is a recent graduate of the Directing Program at the American Film Institute Conservatory (AFI), where she received several scholarships and awards, including the AFI AWARDS Audi Scholarship, The Tom Yoda Scholarship Award and The Women In Film/Tichi Wilkerson Kassel Endowed Scholarship.

Born in Uppsala, Sweden, she began her film career as a production associate at Killer Films in New York, and from there, went on to work at Magnolia Pictures, where she held several positions including acquisitions executive.

Westlin thereafter served at SF Studios as an associate producer on the Academy Award-nominated film A MAN CALLED OVE; associate producer on the Cannes Film Festival Un Certain Regard Prize winner THE HAPPIEST DAY IN THE LIFE OF OLLI MÄKI, where she was selected to be part of the Young Nordic Producer's Club, and co-producer on BORG MCENROE, which opened the Toronto Film Festival; amongst others. 

Westlin wrote and directed the short film LADIES WHO LUNCH, supported by the Swedish Film Institute, and which premiered at Way Out West, Scandinavia's largest film and music festival. She's also been an Ingmar Bergman Artist in Residence on Fårö.

Since graduating Westlin has directed commercials for clients like AKIND, ODDOBODY and OM-SE, and she was shortlisted for a Cannes Lions Young Director Award in both 2023 and in 2024.

Westlin's AFI thesis film BIENVENIDO JUANITO, is presently playing at film festivals, and was awarded a DGA Jury Award for Best Student Film 2023.
